Urinary Support & Antioxidants from Organic Cranberries
Ruby-red cranberries (Vaccinium macrocarpon) get their gorgeous color from antioxidant anthocyanins. The cranberry’s nutrition profile includes high Vitamin C, Vitamin A, niacin, calcium, phosphorus, potassium and flavonoids. Cranberries also contain beneficial polyphenol compounds such as quinic acid, which has been studied for antioxidant effects.
This little red berry is well known for its ability to knock out microbes that cause urinary tract infections (UTIs) because it acidifies the urine and prevents bacteria from sticking to the lining of the bladder making it easier for them to be washed out in the urine stream. In addition, cranberries are a source of arbutin, which may be beneficial for fighting candida infections.
Traditional medicinal uses of cranberries include antibiotic, bitter, diuretic and febrifuge. Cranberry may also be helpful for stomach, kidney and gallbladder complaints and even periodontal disease, prostatitis and high cholesterol.
